How STaF Athletics is responding to Covid-19
STaF Athletics is adjusting our Flag Football program in hopes to be able to offer a 2020 Fall season. We want to err on the side of the health and safety of our players and their families. We are all praying that circumstances improve and that our kids and families will be able to participate in fun and positive activities soon.
STaF Athletics wants to continue to be a "family-friendly" and "multi-sport kid-friendly" organization. Below are details on how we will structure the Flag Football season for Fall 2020 to provide the best opportunity for participation.
The Georgia High School Association has added girls flag football for high schools this coming Fall which will start immediately after the Fall high school softball season. STaF Athletics will offer girls flag football this coming year as well.
Below is our preliminary plan for our Flag Football 2020 season:
We will push the season start date back until late October/possibly early November to provide a maximum amount of time to provide a safe season and to allow athletes who play other fall sports to participate.
We will go from a one-game a week format on Saturday mornings, to a 2-3 games a week format. Games will be played on 3 Saturdays and 3 Sunday afternoons.
The season will still offer the same amount of games, but they will start later in the fall and the season will be much shorter; 3-4 weeks. The scenario below would allow multi-sport athletes ample opportunity to play a full fall season of another sport in the fall AND conclude the season before winter sports begin. It also avoids conflicts with local school breaks and holidays. It is a fun, fast-paced season with a lot of flag football in a short amount of time.
An example of a possible scenario
Week 1) Oct 24/25 - three games
Week 2) Oct 31/Nov 1 - three games
Week 3) Nov 7/8 - Single elimination tournament followed by ceremony and distribution of gifts and awards
Teams would be 7 on 7 with a 10 player roster. The cost will NOT increase from previous years, remaining at $150 per player. Financial assistance will be available through a simple and confidential need-based process. We want to ensure that kids who want to play can play regardless of financial circumstances.
All games would still be played in the West Cobb and East Paulding area with Hillgrove High School as the primary site.
Register online at www.stafathletics.com. Our primary way of registering is "Team Registrations.” A coach assembles a team of 10 players. If a partial team registers, we will use our individual registrations to complete the roster for you. Our secondary way of registering is as an individual.
Divisions will be broken down into the following categories:
2nd - 3rd grade Boys
4th - 5th grade Boys
6th - 8th grade (no more than 2 8th graders on a team) Boys
2nd - 3rd grade Girls
4th - 5th grade Girls
6th - 8th grade (no more than 2 8th graders on a team) Girls
